Kate Hendry is a writer and poet living in Edinburgh, Scotland. She has always loved looking at visual art, but for the first time since school (and a crushing D in O’ level art) she has bought some pencils, paper and a lot of rubbers.
Recently Kate Hendry has been attending Drawing for Beginners at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. The class is taught by Helen Jackson and explores a range of botanical and domestic subjects, using pencil, charcoal and pastel.
This site is dedicated to Kate’s drawings and is a record of Kate’s attempt to learn to draw. Her children have been learning too – probably with less difficulty – and their work is featured here too, in the Children’s Collection.
